Why should you set goals : 8 important reasons

Setting goals is one of the best way of taking responsibility of our life. It shows that you are not among those people who don't have a direction in life and that,  you're supposed to get where you want to be. Bill Copeland once said "The trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up and down the field and never score."
Too many people underestimate the importance of setting goals in their life. Zig Ziglar said it so well when he said "You need a plan to build a house. To build a life, it is even more important to have a plan or goal."
So, here I'm going to tell you 8 important reasons for having goals in your life. There you go:-
1. Goals tell you what is truly important to you -- Yes, before having goals, a lot of people have just a small idea of the important things in their life but after setting goals, they can clearly distinguish between gold and any other golden colored material. And I'm 100% sure, if you know about the gold, you're gonna take it with both hands.
2. Goals help you manage the flow of your life -- Till now you're like a leaf in the river, going with the flow, People who continue their lives in this way won't ever reach their destination. They'll only reach where the flow will take them. And the place they will reach won't be the best of places because it was neither chosen by them nor for them. But when you set goals in your life, you become a fish who still has a little effect of flow on her but has fins, tail and all necessary medium to take her where she wants and chooses to go.
3. Goals gives you clarity and focus -- If you din't know where your destination is then how are you ever supposed to reach there. Tony Robbins explained it so well when he said "Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible to visible." Goals gives you a new set of eyes for your life which helps you see more clearly and gives you a laser sharp focus to reach your destination.
4. You take control of your life -- If you want to have a life worth living then you'll have to make it worth living. No one is going to come and give you a magic pill which'll eventually turn everything  for the best. You've to take control of your life. And you do that by setting your goals.
5. Makes your life accountable -- People who has never set any goals in their life before have no idea for where they stand. But on the other hand people having goals can tell you exactly what their position is and how much more time do they need in order to achieve their goals. That's the beauty of setting goals.
6. You'll make good decisions -- After you've set some specific goals in your life, your daily mood won't decide what you want to do but your routine will do. And trust me, people who act on the basis of their goals are destined to act far better than people who act due to the present circumstances.
7. It gives you a feeling of purpose in your life -- This is something that everyone wants in their life. A feeling of purpose. A feeling that they are destined to bring some difference, a feeling that your life isn't going waste, a feeling that you've a destination to reach. And all these feelings add up to bring profound happiness in your life. Don't believe me? You're going to know yourself soon enough.
8. Goal setting is the first step towards goal achievement -- When you set goals, you're gathering all the important things like map, compass, tools, food, water and everything else for your journey. And the better the preparation, the better the journey.
So, now since you're going to set goals in your life, you need to know how to set your goals. A lot of people think that they know how to do it. But believe me when I say that writing goals is a much more deeper topic than just scribbling down your aims on a piece of paper. And for your convenience I've written an article on that topic. You can find all the information that you'll need here.
If you know of any other reason to set goals then I encourage you to share your knowledge with all of us by writing them down on the comments section. Enjoy your day. Peace :-)
