How to set goals

Setting goals is not as easy as most of the people think. It consists of a lot of elements to consider within it. Here are all those elements to consider :-

* Know why are you setting goals -- If you're doing something and you don't know the benefits of doing that thing then the chances of your completing that work will be decreased significantly. So, if someone just suggested you to have goals and you don't have any idea of the benefits that you receive when you set goals then read them here
* The qualities that your goals should have -- There are certain qualities that your goals should have. Without those qualities, your goals would be as useless as the pet who doesn't love you. These certain qualities are written below --
1. Clear and well defined goals -- You are writing your goals so that they can increase your focus on the things that you want to achieve. But if your goals aren't clear and well defined than how are they supposed to do that. So, whenever you write your goals, write them as exact and detailed as possible. For example if your goal is to go for jogging three days a week then don't just write. "I should go for jogging three days a week. Instead write "I'll go for jogging every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 5 am in the Flowers Park. I'll jog for at least 30 minutes each day." Once again I'll like to state that if your goals are not well defined and clear then they'll take you nowhere.
2. Measurable -- Make your goals such that you can measure your progress as easily as you drink Pepsi. Measuring your goals time and again gives you the confirmation that you're going on the right track and motivates you at the same time. So, if you're planning to lose fat then keep track of your weight.
3. Possible to achieve -- I guess I made myself clear with the heading. Your goals shouldn't be too high for you to reach. If you're giving yourself goals which are not possible or very hard to achieve then they'll only discourage you on the line. I know you want to go high but you won't be able to do that in just one jump. It take small numerous steps to reach the final destination.
4. Too many goals -- In today's world, there are many things that can attract you. And there's no bad thing in that. But if you make it your goal to learn all those things then you won't be able to do it. Because you've limited amount of time and that can't change. So you'll only be giving less time to your important goals if you do that. And the end results wouldn't be very pleasing. So, make few but productive goals to see a better result.
5. Have goals which take you to your main goal in your life -- If you want to be a writer and you're giving two hours to piano class, two hours to dance class, three hours to writing then it wouldn't be the best choices that you make. I'd rather recommend two hours to library, two hours to writing courses and then three hours of writing. This way your smaller goals contribute a lot to the highest goals in your life.
* Write down your goals -- Yes, write down all those incredible details about your goals on a peace of paper. Make copies of that paper and paste them on places where you can continuously see them. This will help you stay on the track.
* After setting your goals -- Now you've given your life a particular direction by setting some goals. But still there are some things that can make the difference between winning and losing i.e achieving your goals or getting lost in the way. Those those things are --
1. Write down the benefits that you would have once you reached your goals -- This is the thing which will inspire you the most on your journey. It'll be your reason to stay on track and cross the finishing line. Write down all the benefits that you gain once you reach the finish line. This trick is far more powerful than you can imagine. Write it all down on a piece of paper. And whenever you'll be doubting yourself if what you're doing is worth it or not, have a glance at this paper and you'll be recharged to move forward once again.
2. Give your goals a time limit -- If give your goals a time limit then it will generate within you a sense of urgency which will be of huge benefit for you on the way. It'll also be helpful as you'll know the exact date till when your goal will be achieved. So do it.
3. Break down your goals into smaller parts -- If you want to be a marathon runner then set checkpoint on every extra mile that you ran. Write it all down on a paper. And whenever you run an extra mile, cross it. This will motivate you as you'll know the fact that you're progressing all along the way.
Now you've all the information that you need in order to write down your goals. Enjoy your time setting goals and following them. If you've any other tips then please share it with us. Thank you. Peace :-)
